The Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development（English Edition）started publication in 2007, an academic periodical of first class, under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport of the P.R.China, now published Quarterly at home and abroad.

The JHTRD publishes academic papers on subjects and issues of interest to the highway and highway transport communities as well as the research and development achievements in the transport sector in China, and it has main columns of road engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering, intelligent transport system, and traffic engineering, automobile engineering, road transport related environmental engineering, transport economics, etc. covering every aspects of road and road transport sectors.

The major audiences of the JHTRD are engineers, scientists, and other transport researchers and practitioners with subscribers from all the universities having road and transport related specialties in PeKing University, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Southeast University and across our country. Long-term international cooperative relations have been established through the Journal Exchange Programs with the United State, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan.

The JHTRD is sponsored by the Research Institute of Highways (RIOH, www.rioh.cn) of the Ministry of Transport. The Sixth Editorial Board of the JHTRD is to be established in 2013 chaired by Chief Engineer Zhou Wei of the Ministry of Transport with 47 board members including 8 academicians of the Chinese Engineering Academy and academic leaders in various subjects.
